 Asya Ashour

Asya Ashour – Ammerman Campus

LIU Post - Accounting
While at Suffolk County Community College, Asya was Vice President of the Business and Accounting Club and the Finance Chair of Phi Theta Kappa. Asya graduated from LIU Post as Valedictorian and subsequently from Baruch College with a Masters Degree in Accounting.

How well do you feel Suffolk prepared you for LIU Post?
"Suffolk was the initial launch of my career and success. My professors challenged me and pushed me to do my very best. I owe it all to them".

 
 Jennifer Hessian

Jennifer Hessian – Michael J. Grant Campus

Saint Joseph's College - Nursing
Jennifer successfully took on Suffolk County Community College's challenging Nursing curriculum while remaining active on campus. She was a member of the Nursing Club and Phi Theta Kappa, and also volunteered with the American Heart Association.

What advice would you give to future SoLII applicants or incoming freshman at Suffolk?
"If you're applying, you're doing the right thing... Keep up your GPA".

 
 Noah Hoshyla

Noah Hoshyla – Michael J. Grant Campus

St. Joseph's College  - Child Study and Speech
At Suffolk County Community College, Noah was involved with numerous Phi Theta Kappa activities. He graduated from St. Joseph's College with a Bachelor of Arts in Child Study and Speech. He looks forward to being a role model for children through a career in education.

How has winning a SoLII scholarship affected you?
"The SoLII Scholarship program has opened numerous doors and paths for my career and life to follow."

 
 Caitlyn McGrellis

Caitlyn McGrellis – Ammerman Campus

Dowling College - Elementary Education
Caitlyn seeks to make a difference in the lives of children by becoming a teacher. At Suffolk County Community College, she made a difference through her participation in numerous campus clubs, honor societies, and community organizations.

What do you like most about Dowling College?
"Everyone is so helpful, and the professors really care about how you do."

Where is she now?
Caitlyn McGrellis graduated with a 4.0 from Dowling with a B.A. in Child Psychology in May 2013. While at Dowling, Caitlyn was a part of the National Honor Society and Education Club. She is currently an elementary school teacher in a charter school in Brooklyn, and is excited about beginning her Master's in Literacy Education.

 
 Matthew Skolnick

Matthew Skolnick – Ammerman Campus

St. Joseph's College - Psychology
At Suffolk County Community College, Matt served as his PTK chapter's Communications Chairperson and graduated from the Honors Program. He continued leading at St. Joseph's College as President of the Psychology Club. He also completed an original research proposal and study on the emotional effects of venting on Facebook. Matt is currently working toward a Master of Social Work degree at Stony Brook University.
