Scavenger Hunt Questions

 

Library/Library Steps:

  1. Where is the water bottle refilling station located inside of the library?

 

  1. There are a number of books in the library’s new books* section that relate to environmental conservation, green building, recycling, sustainability, plastics and climate change. Please write down the FULL title of one of the books in that collection that

you find interesting.

* Pro-tip: these items are available to be checked out with your current SCCC ID.  

 

  1. Please locate the Pledge board (on the library steps terrace) & write an Earth Day pledge. Also, please read what others have written. What was the most unique pledge?

 

  1. Please locate the waste audit results (available starting 4/23, 1:30 p.m.); what “type” (of waste) was the most numerous?

 

Babylon Student Center:

  1. Please locate the water bottle refilling station located in the BSC. Read the counter: How many bottles have been saved by students and staff using this refilling station? 

* Pro-tip: Think about getting a reusable bottle today if don’t already have one!

 

  1. Please locate the “Bike/Carshare” info. by the information desk. What alternatives listed here would you consider trying?

 

  1. Please find the display of the Graduation gown, located near the bookstore. What is the gown partially made up of?

Smithtown Sciences Building:

  1. Please stop by the Biology Department’s display case (located in the lobby on the 1st floor). Name 1 “eco-art” project on display.

Veteran’s Plaza:

  1. Stop at the solar tree in the Plaza in front of the Riverhead Building.  Charge your phone and scan the QR code for more information about the solar tree.  Name one thing you learned.

* Pro-tip: Share what you learned with at least one person and let them know about our solar tree!

Other Campus areas:

  1. Go to the lower level of the Riverhead building and exit the building.  Look over at the Lindsay building roof. What do you see located on the roof & what do they do? 

 

  1. Go to:  https://www.sunysuffolk.edu/about-suffolk/sustainability/courses.jsp#tab-d16e3-2.  What workforce Certificate programs does the College offer?

 

  1. Please stop in Parking Lot #1 (located off of College Road) and locate the EV Charging Stations. How many cars are charging at the stations?  Record the date and time of your visit.
