Offshore Wind Careers Workshop:
KidWind Challenge:Suffolk County Community College in collaboration with Stony Brook University and Brentwood High School are presenting a KidWind Challenge. The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on design competition that engages students in STEAM. During this in-person event, more than 50 students will design and construct small wind turbines that they test in a wind tunnel, and meet with a panel of judges to present their design process and demonstrate their contextual knowledge of clean energy. In preparation for the challenge, nine teachers participated in a hands-on workshop to help grow educators’ knowledge about clean energy while also getting quality materials into their hands. The workshop introduced educators to the fundamentals of clean energy, project-based and inquiry-led pedagogies, and provide details about participating in the KidWind Challenge. These teachers will now incorporate these skills into their curriculum.
