Enroll Today: Brightspace 101 for Faculty

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) created an orientation course to help instructors get familiar with D2L Brightspace. Knowing how to navigate Brightspace and organize course materials can help you and your students have a successful semester.

Every course, regardless of modality (fully online to traditional, in-person), has a home on Brightspace. The orientation is asynchronous and self-paced. To receive a certificate of completion, take the optional survey.

Faculty who complete this mini course, will be able to:

  • Explore the faculty resources offered by CTL
  • Experience a well-organized, easy to navigate course site
  • Use Brightspace tools to communicate with students
  • Create modules to organize course content
  • Set up the gradebook
  • Enter grades so students can monitor their progress
  • Create or upload course materials such as documents, link, or videos
  • Create accessible content as required by ADA policy
  • Create discussions, assignments, and quizzes to assess student learning
  • Use MS Teams for meeting with students
  • Use Lumi Pro, the AI tool in Brightspace
  • Use YuJa, the video library to create and share videos
  • Discover where you can get Brightspace help for you and your students
