Alfred University

Alfred University was founded in 1836, with inclusion from the start! One of the first coeducational institutions in the United States.  Alfred University is a Private, non-sectarian, with state-sponsored programs in engineering and art and design.  Located in Alfred, New York, a village in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains about an hour west of Corning, an hour and a half south of Rochester and two hours from Buffalo.

About 1,600 undergraduates and nearly 150 graduate students from 43 states and 16 countries attend full-time on the Alfred campus. With approximately 90 additional part-time graduate students on the Alfred, NY campus, and 475 graduate students enrolled in our AUNY NYC-metro area programs.

Alfred University Scholarship Details:

  • The scholarship is awarded in the spring for students enrolling in the fall.
  • Recipient must take 12+ credits per semester
  • Recipient must maintain 3.0 GPA
  • Scholarship is renewable for up to 4 consecutive fall & spring semesters
  • Recipients are required to submit a FAFSA each year

NOTE: Applying for the Stay on Long Island Scholarship is NOT an application to the college. You must apply for transfer admission separately. You can do that online by clicking on the Online Application link. 

Scholarships available for January/May 2025 graduates enrolling for Fall 2025:

  • One (1) full-tuition SoLII scholarship!

Students must apply for transfer admission to the college by Monday, February 24, 2025 to be eligible for the SoLII scholarship.

*Visit AU today and receive extra money to help pay for college. Students who make an official visit to campus by March 1st before their anticipated entry term may be eligible to receive a $1,000 campus visit grant applied towards their tuition for each year they are enrolled at Alfred University!
