Mission Statement

The Grant Campus Writing Studio promotes the development of writing skills through practice, conversation, collaboration, and reflection on writing.  We encourage the use of writing in all disciplines as a tool for learning, self-expression, and critical thinking.  Open to all members of the Suffolk academic community, our center provides opportunities to receive constructive feedback from trained instructors and to develop strategies for completing any writing assignment at any stage of the writing process.

Overview

At the Writing Studio, students work with professional tutors who can help with any writing assignment and any stage of the writing process. Our services are free and confidential for anyone with a valid Suffolk ID.

Appointments

Individual appointments are 45 minutes long and can be conducted either in-person or online.

How many appointments can I make?

Since we aim to help as many students as possible, we have placed some mild restrictions on the number of appointments you can make: 2 per day, not back-to-back, and 4 per week.

Must I make an appointment or may I just show up to get help?

You do not need to make an appointment, but since the Studio gets busy, we urge you to plan ahead to make an appointment so that you can get the assistance when needed.

If you’re interested in working at the Writing Studio, please contact the Coordinator, Cristina Savarese, EdD. 631-851-6246; savarec@sunysuffolk.edu
