World Languages/ESL Tutoring and Resource Center

The language lab welcomes you to work remotely with us this semester. Our professional staff is available to guide students through the online programs required in our language classes. These programs include MindTap, MyLanguageLab and the VHLCentral Supersite. We can help you register and become familiar with various aspects of your particular program: the assignment calendar, grade book and many useful resources.  Furthermore, our expert tutors provide academic assistance with the material covered in class. They can review specific topics with you and address questions regarding your assignments.

• All lab assistance is provided via Zoom or email chats.
• For help with your online program, you should email the lab, and the next available assistant will respond and try to resolve whatever issue you might be experiencing.
• All tutoring sessions are by appointment. Appointments are made by sending an email to languagelab-ammr@sunysuffolk.edu
• An individual appointment is 30 minutes. Small group tutoring is 60 minutes.

Remote Language Tutoring

Meet virtually with our experienced tutors for help accessing and using your online workbook/lab manual, understanding grammar points, practicing language skills, working through class assignments and preparing for tests.

Instructions for Making Tutoring Appointments

• Refer to the tutoring schedule to see when a tutor is available.
• Email the Language Lab with the following information:
  • Your name and student ID number
  • Email address and phone #
  • Course (i.e. SPN 101)
  • Day and time you are available; give at least two options.
• You will receive a response by email.
• The Zoom meeting ID and password will be included in the appointment confirmation.
• You should be ready at your computer at the scheduled time.
• Please be prepared with your assignment and specific questions.
• If you need to cancel your appointment, please email the lab or the tutor.
