Eligibility for the LSAMP program is restricted to underrepresented minority* *African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Alaska Native, or Pacific Islander (includes Filipino) students in certain STEM majors. The LSAMP program is not funded to support, and consequently will not support, students declaring majors in pre-medicine, nursing, or allied health sciences.

Additional Eligibility
- Enrolled at Suffolk County Community College in an undergraduate STEM major
- Expressed interest in pursuing a STEM baccalaureate degree
- Expressed interest in pursuing an advanced degree in a STEM discipline
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must have been accepted for admission into one of the participating SUNY colleges/universities
- Must have an ultimate goal of obtaining an advanced degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (A student may start his/her college work in a community college, four-year, or university)
- Must participate in LSAMP program activities
