Western Student Press Garners LI Press Club Awards

The Western Student Press staff (WSP) reporters Alyssa Ohlenschlager, at left and Tyler Jacobson, right proudly picked up wins on behalf of the WSP at the Press Club of Long Island’s Annual Media Awards contest held at the Long Island Marriott in Melville. Faculty Advisor Anita Leibowitz is center.

Suffolk County Community College’s The Western Student Press was named the third best Overall College Newspaper on Long Island by the Press Club of Long Island.  The newspaper also garnered a second-place win for Corona Virus Reporting and a third-place award for Best Race & Diversity Reporting.

The Western Student Press is the official student publication of the Michael J. Grant campus of Suffolk County Community College’s Michael J Grant Campus in Brentwood.
