Suffolk Executive Announces Vaccination POD at Ammerman Campus, College's Third
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announces the opening of a vaccination point of distribution (POD) at Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus in Selden.
The POD opening is in addition to other sites operating at the College's Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood and the Eastern Campus in Riverhead.
Suffolk County Community College Interim President Louis Petrizzo thanked the County Executive for his support of the College and told those gathered how proud the College was to do its part for the community. Petrizzo also thanked all the College employees involved in setting up the PODs across the three campuses and gave a special thanks to the College's student nurses -- more than 60 -- who have volunteered to help administer the vaccine.
“Science has given us a very effective and very safe vaccine,” said Petrizzo, “but vaccines don’t do any good in the vial. They need to be distributed, and that’s why setting up these PODs in the communities are so very important.”
