Suffolk’s Karlson Named SUNY Online Community Leader
Suffolk County Community College’s Director for the Center for Innovative Pedagogy Camille Karlson, Ph.D. has earned the State University of New York’s (SUNY) Open SUNY Community Leader award for her leadership and contributions to continuously improving SUNY’s online teaching community and “…a commitment to support community growth and learning and the continuous improvement of our online teaching practices.”
“Since her arrival at Suffolk, Dr. Karlson has helped transform the state of online education at our College. Thousands of students every semester are being taught by faculty trained in the Center for Innovative Pedagogy which she leads. Her expertise has been invaluable as we have transitioned 90 percent of our sections to online for the fall semester. Her award is well deserved,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Paul Beaudin.
Individuals who have earned the Open SUNY Online Teaching Community Leader badge have
volunteered their expertise to lead an Open SUNY Online Teaching Community of Practice
activity and volunteers and participate in a variety of forums to share knowledge
and expertise.
