December 7 Fair Can Help Jump-start a Career in the Auto Industry

More than three dozen auto employers -- dealerships and service companies – will help jumpstart your career at the Suffolk County Community College Automotive Technology and Career Services Automotive Career Fair at the college’s Automotive Technology Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Auto companies from across Long Island have confirmed their attendance at the premier Auto Technology career event sponsored by Suffolk County Community College and open to those who are interested in automotive dealership management and repair opportunities.

Suffolk County Community College offers an A.A.S. degree in Automotive Technology on its Ammerman Campus in Selden.  It is a certified program that is designed to prepare students for employment as automobile technicians.

The programs offered are the Honda PACT program, the Toyota T-TEN program, the General Motors ASEP program, and the General Automotive ATAC I & ATAC II programs.

Today's automobiles are equipped with complex computer and electronic systems that requires highly trained, skilled professionals who are competent in math, science and computer technology.  Communication and management skills are equally important for success in the field.

“Students in our program are preparing not only for their futures, but the future of their industry,” said Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Shaun L. McKay.

McKay urged those who are interested in careers in the automotive industry, either in dealership management or on the repair side of the business, to attend the one-day event.
