Students Travel to Albany to Tell Legislators More Funding Needed for Community Colleges
Nearly three dozen Suffolk County Community College students travelled to the New York State Capitol to tell legislators that more funding is needed for community colleges during the college's Advocacy Day, coordinated this year with the Faculty Association of Suffolk County and Community College and the New York State United Teachers Union.
Clockwise from upper left, students met with New York State Senator Kenneth LaValle,
chair of the Higher Education Committee, Assemblyman Fred Thiele, striking a pose
on the "Million Dollar Staircase" in the Capitol Building, asking questions of New
York State Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan, and meeting with Assemblyman Steve
Englebright.
