New Student Trustee Sworn In.
New Suffolk County Community College Student Trustee Gardy Amilcar, 26, center, is
sworn in to begin his term. Amilcar, a business administration major who will graduate
in May 2015, will serve as a trustee for one year.

The student trustee is one of 10 members of the Suffolk County Community College Board
of Trustees and the Suffolk Community College (SCC) Association Board of Directors.
The Board of Trustees is charged with the overall responsibility of governing the
college through policy development, long-range planning, and fiscal management.
The SCC Association Board of Directors has responsibility for managing, controlling,
and directing the business affairs, activities, and policies of the SCC Association.
The student trustee is elected each year in a general election held during the spring
semester. To be eligible to run for student trustee, a student must:
- be a matriculated student at Suffolk County Community College
- be in good academic standing
- have completed at least 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5
