Mary Lou Araneo, M.B.A.

During her 35-year career, Mary Lou Araneo has held senior-level positions with market leaders in financial services, healthcare and human services, and higher education. She currently serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Suffolk County Community College, the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

In her current position, Ms. Araneo is responsible for the College’s communications, as well as its Office of Grants Development and the marketing and publications departments of the College.

Since joining the College in 2003, Ms. Araneo has successfully implemented a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that serves to reinforce and extend awareness of Suffolk County Community College, its programs and the value it brings to the County and its residents. Under her leadership, the Office of Institutional Advancement has developed the College’s brand and been selected to receive numerous state, regional and national awards for its marketing and advertising campaigns. She is also responsible for leading the College’s Office of Grants Development, which averages almost $4.0 million in grant funding annually.

Prior to her work with the College, she served as Vice President of Corporate Communications for Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHS), the Director of Marketing and Development for Maryhaven Center of Hope, and as an Assistant Vice President and Assistant Director of Marketing for both Union Savings Bank and North Fork Bancorp.

Ms. Araneo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Southampton College of Long Island University. She went on to receive her MBA from Long Island University – C.W. Post Campus.

Ms. Araneo and her husband, William, reside in Cutchogue, NY. They have one daughter, Corinne, who is a proud alumna of Suffolk County Community College and is currently a senior in the child study/speech program at St. Joseph’s College.
